We at Broadway are proud to have achieved the full Level 5 RHS School Gardening Award!
The RHS School Gardening Awards is a free, five-level awards scheme run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for schools, community groups, and educational groups. It provides achievable goals and rewards, to help participants experience the benefits of gardening, including supporting the environment and improving wellbeing; with each level building on the previous one to further enrich gardening in the school community.
Level 1 is about starting out on your school’s gardening journey and getting growing.
Level 2 focuses on supporting pupil wellbeing and developing new gardening skills. It also provides an opportunity to show how pupil voice is a fundamental part of growing and caring for plants in your school.
Level 3 is about extending the range of plants you grow, keeping your plants healthy and using planet-friendly approaches when you garden.
Level 4 focuses on gardening for wildlife and using gardening to support the curriculum. It is also about inspiring others beyond your school by sharing plants and seeds.
Level 5 is about gardening through the year, gardening with members of your local community and keeping gardening at the heart of your schoo
We at Apricot / Broadway Nursery work closely with The National Literacy Trust in Peterborough, providing them with Makaton signs of the week, along with Nursery rhymes and stories also signed in Makaton. We Promote Literacy by joining in with local events and promoting literacy games around our local environment for the public.

Broadway Nursery and Apricot Nursery annually renew our Sunsafe accreditations; Sun Safe Nurseries is a free, national Skcin [sic] accreditation program that provides nurseries and pre-schools with resources and guidance to implement effective sun safety policies, educate children on UV protection, and prevent skin cancer. The program involves creating a sun safety policy, communicating with parents about risks and prevention, and educating young children through fun activities and resources like books and songs. Gaining accreditation helps ensure a nursery provides a sun-safe environment and instills vital sun safety behaviors in children from a young age.
We at Apricot & Broadway are proud to be the only Makaton Accredited Nurseries in Peterborough. Our nursery teams are constantly learning Makaton embracing it as an additional means of communication.
Broadway Nursery has been awarded their plastic free schools accreditation, The Plastic Free Schools accreditation is a Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) program that awards official status to educational settings, including nurseries, for eliminating single-use plastics and reducing plastic pollution. Nurseries complete five objectives over a year, aiming to replace at least three types of single-use plastic with sustainable alternatives and educate children about environmental responsibility. Achieving this status signifies a commitment to youth-led environmental action and empowers children to become agents of change against plastic pollution.
